Shepard Fairey is a contemporary graphic designer with a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design. Fairey originally used the city as his canvas, tagging stickers and claiming public property his territory. There is a certain rebelliousness to Fairey's work, and that is what is so attractive to me. He makes something seemingly insignificant, such as a rundown building, beautiful with his social commentary pieces. He inspires me to produce art wherever I see applicable. I love the idea that Fairey always acts on his inspiration. While Street Art is illegal in some ways, I love the instantaneous nature of it.
